Giuseppe Giacomini (tenor)Giuseppe Giacomini made his debut as Pinkerton in Puccinis "Madama Butterfly" in Vercelli and sang afterwards at all the important opera houses of the world. He has close relationships with the

Metropolitan Opera New York, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden London, the Teatro alla Scala Milano and the Wiener Staatsoper who awarded him with the title "Kammersänger".



He was also awarded two of the most honourable decorations of Italy the title of "Commendatore e Cavaliere dell'Ordine di S. Gregorio Magno" and the "Medaglia d'oro di Benemerito della Scuola della Cultura ed Arte".



Giuseppe Giacomini is the dramatic Italian tenor par excellence of our days. His dark coloured voice is ideal for roles like Otello, Radames, Alvaro in "La Forza del Destino", Andrea Chénier, Cavaradossi, Calaf in "Turandot", Dick Johnson in "La Fanciulla del West", Canio in "I Pagliacci", Manrico in "Il Trovatore” and all the other roles of this repertory which he sang at all the important opera houses all over the world.



With his 1996 debut as Don José in Bizet’s "Carmen" in Palermo he added the first French role to his repertory which was followed by his sensational debut as Samson in Saint-Saëns’ "Samson et Dalila" in November 1999 at the Opernhaus Zurich.



Among other performances he recently sang "Tosca" in Zurich, Munich, Oslo, Vienna and at Covent Garden London, "Andrea Chénier" in Vienna, Zurich and Catania, "Turandot" at Covent Garden Opera, at the Maggio Musicale in Florence,in Barcelona and Rome, "Aida" in Luxor, Verona, Tokyo, Munich and Seoul, "I Pagliacci" in Vienna, Catania, Tokyo, Palermo and Savonlinna, "Cavalleria Rusticana” in Beijing and Rome, "Otello" in St. Petersburg and Helsinki, the first version of "La Forza del Destino” in St. Petersburg and at the Teatro alla Scala Milano, Verdi Requiem at the Baden-Baden-Festival and in Toulouse, "La Fanciulla del West" and "Carmen" in Helsinki, "Samson et Dalila" in Strasbourg, "Il Trovatore" in Seoul, “Madama Butterfly“ in Tokyo.



Among his numerous recordings are most notable "Tosca" with Muti (Philips), "Norma" with Levine (Sony), "Manon Lescaut” with Campori (RCA), "Il Tabarro" with Bartoletti (Decca), "Cavalleria Rusticana" with Bychkov (Philips), "La forza del destino" with Levine as Video and DVD (Deutsche Grammophon), "Otello" with Lombard live from Bordeaux (Forlane), "I Pagliacci" as DVD (Kiccomusic) and his recitals with religious arias and songs (Phoenix Classics), opera arias (Bongiovanni) followed by a lyric aria programme (Bongiovanni) and one with italian songs (Bongiovanni).
