Gioacchino Gitto (tenor)
Gitto Gioacchino, born in Italy, moved young to Canada, studied singing at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto (Canada) and in Rome. At first steps he dedicated his career to concerts. He debutted in Rome - Italy in 1976 with "La Bohème" by G. Puccini, in the Rodolfo character, and has made numerous tours in North America, Turkey, West Germany, France, Spain, Holland and Belgium, along with more great contemporary singers and under the direction of important Conductors.
He has sung in many opera houses in Italy, and abroad.
From 1982 he launched the management career targeted to the organization and direction of opera performances in Italy and, in few years, his business has grown considerably, until it become one of major organizers of opera performances in Italy and abroad.
Since 1986, by promoting the Opera season subsidized by the Italian Ministry Tourism and Entertainment, in the natural scenery of the Greek-Roman Theater in Taormina. has established a solid partnership with the town of Taormina. On his Artistic Director of this important Opera season, is in being able to hold, with significant efforts due to the low budget, high artistic level of the performances that gave the right reputation in the world to one of the most suggestive Opera seasons.
He managed the performances of 1989 to 1990 and 1991 of Norma, Tosca, Nabucco, Turandot, Cavalleria Rusticana and Ravel's Bolero with: Katia Ricciarelli, Ghena Dimitrova, Adriana Morelli, Olivia Stapp, Piero Cappuccilli, Carlo Maestrini, Giuseppe Di Stefano, Anton Guadagno , Janos Acs, Campori Angelo, Tito Varisco etc.. collect the deserved respect and attention of the critics charged.
Since 1991, by Ministerial Decree no. No. 2571/TB28 is registered Opera enterprises of Article. 42 of Law 14/8/67 n ° 800.
He also cooperated in the Art Direction of opera seasons subsidized by: Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese from 1990 to 2002, of Syracuse in 1998, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio della provincia di Teramo in 1998, Fondazione Politeama Città di Catanzaro from 2005 to 2008, Taormina ART from 2004 to 2006 and other municipalities of Sicily, Calabria, Veneto and Lazio.
He Collaborates with the Municipality of Reggio Calabria and Teatro Francesco Cilea since 2004.
In 2007 he was also involved in a series of concerts and master class and board member on international singing competitions in Italy, Spain and Japan.
He was the creator and organizer of the International Giuseppe di Stefano copetittion in Trapani and organizer and artistic director of the International Francesco Paolo Neglia competition of Enna.
Abroad, has successfully organized, opera performances in Germany (Monaco di Baviera and Dortmund), Canada (Toronto, Hamilton and Montreal) and finally in 2008 in Turkey in the beautiful scenery of the Roman Theater in Aspendos with the staging of the opera "Norma" by Vincenzo Bellini.
